Rochester Ghost Hunt Halloween Week artwork with two BUS characters capturing a ghost on a phone

Six ghosts. Six lost objects. One unfinished story.

Explore Brighton Avenue anytime during Halloween Week. Begin at any station and hunt in any order.

Allow about 45–60 minutes. Explore at your own pace.

Begin anywhere

Find a viewfinder. Follow the ghost.

Each station introduces a Rochester ghost and points you toward a real detail nearby. Work alone or with other hunters to solve the clue and recover the ghost’s missing object.

What to expect

A family-friendly outdoor story adventure—not a haunted house or scare attraction.

  • Six self-guided stations along Brighton Avenue
  • Short ghost stories, hidden characters and visual clues
  • Light walking, searching and group problem-solving
  • About 45–60 minutes to complete all six
  • Begin anywhere and visit one station or collect them all
  • Best for ages 8+; younger hunters can join with grown-up help
  • One internet-connected phone per group is enough
  • Explore outdoors at your own pace

Can’t make the finale? No problem. The Ghost Hunt is a complete experience on its own. Try one station or collect all six—the November 1 Finale Party is an optional bonus.

The ghosts may be spooky, but they’re here to be remembered—not to frighten you.

Hunt carefully

Ghosts are distracting. Traffic is real.

  • Use marked crosswalks and look both ways before crossing.
  • Stay on public sidewalks and public areas.
  • Do not enter buildings, yards or restricted spaces.
  • Watch for traffic, uneven pavement and other pedestrians.
  • Park safely before scanning or ghost hunting.
  • Children should explore with a responsible adult.

Optional finale experience

Join the Ghost Finale Party—if you can!

The street hunt is a complete experience on its own. If you can join us November 1, bring your completed ghost collection to receive a small prize and enter the raffle for the Grand Ghost Hunter Prize. Then help bring the six recovered objects together, reveal their final connection and complete the ghosts’ unfinished story.
